256-bit AES hardware encryption plus password protection means an archive of case photography and video can travel without being an open liability if the drive is lost. The bundled backup software runs on a schedule, so archiving isn't a manual task someone has to remember.
It's not fast by 2026 standards (USB 3.2 Gen 1, ~110 MB/s), but for a backup and archive drive rather than a working scratch disk, that's a reasonable trade for the price and the included case.
